Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is one of the great herbal traditions of the world, with an unbroken history going back to third century BC. Based on many centuries of clinical experience, treatments have evolved in CHM that continue to prove effective for a wide range of medical conditions.
CHM is based on the principle that good health depends on achieving optimum vitality and balance more than simply treating disease. Each patient is approached as a unique individual. Herbal prescriptions are tailored to you personally and are adjusted regularly during follow up consultations, based on changes and improvements during treatment.
What to expect:
The initial consultation is an hour and Tim will gather information about any specific health complaints as well as checking how the whole system is functioning and a relevant medical history. The pulse is taken and the tongue examined. This gives Tim a picture of how your health is now and also a map of what has led up to the current condition.
Taking herbs:
Herbs are usually prescribed to be taken twice a day, most commonly in granule form, that can be dissolved in hot water. Sometimes lifestyle advice is given. Follow up appointments are half an hour, either on line or in person, to check progress and adjust the prescription if necessary.
Tim is a member of Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM). You can visit their website for more information and useful articles.
